So a week into the new team, everything is going well. I have everything I need to race on its way. The team presentation and lunch have been and gone. There seems to be a strong sense of team here. I can feel it, and therefore, hope that I can fit in! I’m sure it shall be no problem. The guys made me feel welcome, I think everyone speaks English. I feel really bad about that situation. I understand a little bit of Flemish, but by no means, enough to have a conversation. I am trying to find place to go to learn, but for now, I am translating newspaper articles (with Google translator!) to try to get a feel for it. If I pick up a few words along the way the better!
The weather here though, is not favourable right now! The temperature has been in the negatives since Tuesday. Wednesday, we got snow.Great. I have spent the whole winter running (mostly flying) away from the snow! So, since Wednesday I have done between 2 and 2.5 hours a day of intervals indoors on the rollers. Me and the rollers/turbo trainer really don’t get on, but I have no choice in the matter! The team training just got cancelled (its -4and snow) so I’m off to curse at my rollers, and then start training.
There is a picture of the team below, and I’m lookingforward to the day a road cyclist can use the road again!
