How did It start?
At the age of 8 I competed in my very first aquathlon (swim & run event). I finished 3rd and proceeded to join the club which promoted the event: East Grinstead Junior Triathlon Club. I continued triathlon until the age of 16 with my best results coming in that year with a 3rd in the Micholob Ultra Junior Elite London Triathlon and 3rd in the British Inter-Regional Triathlon Championships, as well as being the South-East Regional Champion for 2 consecutive years. With cycling a discipline within triathlon I was constantly training on my bike with my now coach: Alan Denman. At the end of 2005 the decision was made and I gave up triathlon, and took I to cycling as my full-time sport.
What happened Next?
I was always a member of Crawley Cycling Club, and now I started to compete on the road and track with my parents, Alan, and his family as my support. I continued to get faster, and stronger on my bike. I became a full-time athlete at the age of 17, learning all the time and dreaming to go to live in Belgium and forge a career for myself from cycling. 2007 was to see my first year in Belgium with Kingsnorth International Wheelers. This only lasted for a month as I became severely injured and had to return home to recover. I recovered in time to train for the end of the 2007 road season.
Where Am I now?
I rode for my first professional team, Cyclingnews-Jako throughout the 2008 season. I was no superstar and spent the whole year watching, learning and occasionally impacting on the results sheet. 2009 sees me riding with Cinelli-Down under, an Australian registered professional team. I have still not served my cycling apprenticeship, but I embark on this season with the motivation and fitness to start to achieve my potential.
